8-Track/Cassette/Micro Cassette VHS/VHS C/HI8/8MM Misc Media Shipping Info
We're often asked if we can transfer 8-tracks to CD. You bet!. The only thing that we require is that the tape be tuned-up or repaired before the transfer is made. If your tape just needs a minor repair/tune up before the transfer the cost is $3 per tape. If it need a major repair (see our 8-track repair page for more information) the cost will be at least $5 per tape. *Longer tapes, generally those over 60 minutes are harder to transfer due to the large amount of tape in these carts. We will do our best to give you the best quality sound transfer, but we do not guarantee these longer tapes.*
*****In order to obey copyright laws, we must return your original media. According to the copyright laws, the CD we make for you from your 8-track is permanently paired with the 8-track you sent for conversion to CD. It is the 8-track that you purchased that holds the copyright for the music copied to your new CD. You should retain the 8-track to prove you have purchased a copy of the copyright to the music held on the CD.
It is legal for a consumer to transfer for his or her own use copyrighted material from one medium he has purchased to another medium. You must, however, retain the original source medium since the copyright you purchased is attached to that item. We can not use MP3's as a source of original media. Making multiple copies is not legal unless you own multiple copyrights obtained from purchasing multiples of the original media, or if you are the original copyright owner. We operate our business following copyright laws. *******
We also do not repair/transfer adult themed tapes.
After trying a local business to convert our 8 track tapes to CD's, which was a failure and after about 2 months I finally got my one test tape back and searched online and found Kate's Track Shack. I called Kathy and spoke with her and she answered any and all my questions I had. She said I could call or email anytime with any further questions I had. When I did email her she was always very quick to reply. She sounded like an honest and sincere person so I packaged up my 6 tapes and mailed them off. I was not disappointed. Within 2-3 weeks had them back. They sound Great! And an added bonus she reused the package I sent tapes to her in. Less waste, I like that. We received the package yesterday and immediately listened to our wedding of almost 45 years ago. It was the most impressive and emotional gift to ourselves this Christmas! You did a spectacular job cleaning and copying the two audio 8 tracks onto CDs! Besides being professional, you brought your personal touch to this project by contacting me by email and phone as when necessary.
Our 90 year old uncle is extremely ill; he was responsible for taping our wedding. Imagine our surprise to hear his younger, stronger voice at the end of our wedding ceremony say a few words of support and love to us, followed by his personal touch, adding five waltzes from the 1940's. Transfer of 1 or more Tapes/Cassettes to Flash Drive (8 GB)***.............Starts at $24.99.00 ea. **
Transfer of 8-Track/Cassette via Dropbox or other media storage...Same rates as Basic or Standard Transfer charges. You can have these as MP3 files or .wav files.
*A CD will only hold about 80 minutes of recorded music. If you have an 8-track that is longer than that, the CD will have to be broken down into 2 CD's. Each copy would have 2 CD's and thus duplicate copies would be $10 per 8-track. Again, the $10 for duplicate copies only applies to transfers that are over 80 minutes long.
**Transfer to a flash drive is an add on option. If you want both the CD and flash drive (Dropbox can be added at no cost with this option), you will pay the cost of the tune up/repair (starts at $3 ea) + CD - $15- basic or $20 standard (if tape is over 80 minutes there will be additional $5 for 2nd CD) per tape. The additional cost for the flash drive(s) would be $10/$15 (depending on service performed - basic or standard) per tape to add to the flash drive up to 8GB***
If you only want your transfer(s) to be put onto a flash drive/Dropbox and no CD, you'll pay the cost of tune up/repair to each tape (starts at $3 ea) then the cost of whatever each item is to do the basic or standard transfer. Examples - if you have (5) 8-tracks that you just want a basic transfer then you'd be looking at the cost for tune up/repair and $15 each to put on to the flash drive or $20 each for the standard transfer. If the transfer is longer than 80 minutes there won't be the additional $5 charge. If you have a 90 minute cassette that you want a standard transfer then it would be $20. No additional charge for being longer than 80 minutes since it won't apply on the flash drive. Up to 8GB***
***If your media requires more than an 8GB flash drive additional charges will apply - 16GB add $5, 32GB add $10, 64GB add $15.
If you send us your media for transfer and have not told us which type of transfer you want us to do - basic or standard, standard will be done.
We can not make multiple copies of commercially recorded media.
If you have a tape(s) that need major repairs, please email us so we can determine what the charges would be.
VHS/VHS C/HI8/8MM to DVD Transfers
We are now able to do VHS and VHS C/Hi8/8mm tapes to DVD transfers*. A basic transfer starts at $15. Included is a paper sleeve and hand written title on DVD. If the tape needs any type of repair, we would contact you first with an estimate for the repair. Note: Some commercially recorded DVDS

*On professionally recorded VHS tapes we can only make one archival copy (unless the tape is copyright protected and won't allow a copy to be made).
**If your media requires more than an 8GB flash drive additional charges will apply - 16GB add $5, 32GB add $10, 64GB add $15.
***If you want both the DVD and flash drive, you will pay the cost of the VHS/VHS C/Hi8/8mm tape transfer(s) - $15 per tape (if any of these tapes is over 2 hours, each additional DVD needed will be $5 ea) plus $5.99 to add to the flash drive up to 8GB***
If you need to have 8/S8/16mm movies, vinyl (lp's/45's), slides or Reel to Reels transferred, please contact us for pricing and info.
If you want to have us make an 8-track from a CD, we are able to do this as well. It's a bit more complicated than making a CD from an 8-track and a bit more expensive. Same copyright laws apply as those mentioned above. We can only make one 8-track from the source material for archival purposes. We must have the original media to make the transfer(s). All original media will be returned with the 8-track. Please contact us for pricing.
